We need to understand the more government spends, the more freedom is lost... Instead of simply debating spending levels, we ought to be debating whether the departments, agencies, and programs funded by the budget should exist at all.

About This Quote

John Maynard Keynes is famous for saying "In the long run, we are all dead." This statement has led people to believe that Keynes was saying that we should worry more about the economy than the human race, but this quote does not say anything of the sort. It is true that Keynes did say that "in the long run, we are all dead” (though he did not say “all”), but he was using that statement to emphasize that no matter how much money is spent, it will never be enough. We must constantly be thinking of ways to grow our economy, because if we do not, we will eventually face economic collapse.
